Expendables 4 is A Christmas Story with Statham, Uwais and Jaa

The Expendables 4 has actually been in some form of development since as far back as 2014, the year when Expendables 3 released to theaters.

The filming ultimately wrapped in mid-October 2021, but the film now is a spin-off titled A Christmas Story focusing on Jason Statham’s character.

The four of mercenary will return again: Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Dolph Lundgren, and Randy Couture.

Statham’s Lee Christmas will be the lead character this time out, with Stallone making his final appearance as Barney Ross.

Jean-Claude Van Damme has also publicly pitched the idea of playing the his Expendables 2 villain Jean Vilain’s twin brother, but it didn’t happen.

Iko Uwais is set to play the villain in The Expendables 4. His character is described as a former soldier who has become an arms dealer and has amassed his own private army.

Andy Garcia will play a CIA agent assigned to accompany the Expendables on their dangerous mission.

The cast also including Tony Jaa, Megan Fox, 50 Cent, Eddie Hall, Sheila Shah, Levy Tran and Jacob Scipio.

Scott Waugh will direct the movie from a script by Spenser Cohen with revisions by Max Adams and John Joseph Connolly.

Schwarzenegger stated: “There is no ‘Expendables’ without Sly. I would never do the movie without him, no. You know, I think the first and second one were terrific. But, the third one, I thought my part was not written well. It was also not playing well in the movie, as far as I was concerned. Maybe other people believed differently. But I didn’t believe that I had any value in the movie. I love the franchise, by the way. I think it’s a spectacular franchise, The Expendables. I think that Sly has good ideas, what he wants to do with it, and I think if they write a really good script [in] which my part is very well-developed, I would do it. If not, then I won’t do it.”

The Expendables 4 is expected to come out in 2022, but doesn’t have a release date assigned yet.

Stallone just recently announced that the upcoming Expendables 4 would have an R rating and would be much bloodier and darker than the first three installments. Although it is still not confirmed if Stallone will reprise his role. He would probably choose to focus on making a sequel for Creed.

There were a lot of rumours claimed that Nicolas Cage, Jackie Chan, Al Pacino, Robert De Niro, Jack Nicholson, Clint Eastwood, Hulk Hogan, and Manny Pacquiao will join the cast, but nothing was not confirmed.

The latest rumor was that Steven Seagal will join the cast of The Expendables 4 as the main villain. Seagal simply replied on his Twitter account: “It’s being discussed.”

Sylvester Stallone publicly revealed a few weeks back that he plans on filming for The Expendables 4 in Asia.

“We always wanted to work with Jackie, but due to a shortage of central roles, an arrangement could not be made. However, in the upcoming installment, we will surely try to bring him on board. For The Expendables 4, we are trying to reduce the number of stars and increase their individual screen time. Let’s see how that goes!” Stallone added.

“I don’t want to be on their team and be buddies with them. Fuck that noise. I want to hunt every single one of them down and tell them to “send your soul to heaven cause your ass is mine,” said Rock.
