According to a recent study, Illinois records the third-highest surge in drug-related crimes across the United States. The research by Las Vegas injury law firm, Ladah Injury & Car Accident Lawyers, analyzed drug-related crime reports from 2023 and 2024 across all 50 states using FBI crime data. The percentage change in offenses was calculated to identify where crime prevention efforts may be falling short.

Illinois ranks third with a 29.4% increase. The Prairie State documented 23,291 drug-related crimes in 2023, climbing to 30,144 in 2024. These numbers reflect a concerning upward trend in narcotics-related offenses.

Looking at the study, a spokesperson at Ladah Injury & Car Accident Lawyers commented:

“This study highlights the growing concern around rising drug-related offenses in states like Illinois.

“The sharp increases may indicate challenges in enforcement, public health outreach, and broader socioeconomic factors. It’s a reminder that while some states are seeing improvements, others are struggling with an alarming rise.”
